MACON TRANSITIONAL CENTER - July 6, 2014

Wayne, Julia and I went to Macon TC for Sunday morning service. The room was almost full - the highest participation we have had so far. The video praise and worship was powerful and all of the men participated. I turned the service over to Wayne who brought the message on "Prophecy Fulfilled" using text from Rev. 3, Rom 10 and Matt 7.

He told the men that according to Ephesians 4, our job is to equip you for the ministry. He covered three topics because this was the foundation for the next couple of services.
1. Basics of Studying Scripture
2. Prophecy
3. Relevance to Modern Gospel

We can make the Bible say anything we want if we take things out of context. The church is like a telephone game. We follow the generation before us but don't go back to the "first person" - the Bible. We put our salvation in the hands of someone else by believing everything the Pastor or Evangelist says without studying for ourselves. Remember - deception has a little bit of truth and a little bit of lies.

Four basic principles for studying the Bible.
1. What does it say? What is God's role? What is my role?
2. What does it mean? Context rules. Do not take out of context.
3. How does it relate to the 21st Century? Timeless truths across culture and time. The Bible was not written to us. It was written to a specific people at a specific time for a specific purpose. But it was preserved for us.
4. How does it apply to my life? It is one interpretation with several applications. It means the same thing, but may apply differently; i.e. take the Gospel to the ends of the earth. To one it may mean going to another land; to another it may mean going to your neighborhood.

Then he covered prophecy. He compared the old testament with the new. Prophecy is the old testament was for correction....so is Revelation. Revelation prophesy is focusing on errors of those in the new covenant. He covered the different types of prophesy. He completed the prophesy with three basic points in prophetic oracles:
1. You have broken the covenant - REPENT
2. Judgment if you do not repent
3. Hope beyond judgment for future restoration if you do repent

The Barna Group does Christian polls and their most recent poll showed:
84% of Americans say they believe Christ is Messiah
77% believe they are going to heaven
65% say they are born again
4% are living according to Biblical standards
This is scary!!!!

First of all, how can you have 77% who think they are going to heaven but only 65% claim to be born again. In John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again [from above, spiritually], he cannot see the kingdom of God.

65% claim to be born again but only 4% are living according to Biblical standards. In Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus said: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Wayne challenged the men to reach those 77% back in their dorms to come out in 2 weeks to learn what salvation really means.

We closed by taking prayer requests. We got into a circle and I closed in prayer.
