WEST CENTRAL INTEGRATED TREATMENT FACILITY - 1/10/15

Pastor Elizabeth Smith, Pastor Kevin Humphery, and Sheila Stover were the Set Captives Free ministry team at West Central for this service. We were so blessed to have 59 women come and worship God with us - 11 of which were new to our services. We were all blessed by many of our favorite songs of praise and the women sang, prayed, clapped and cried as God prepared them for His Word.

Pastor Kevin preached "The Good Ground" from Mark 4: 1-19. After reading the entire passage, he paired each verse from the parable with Jesus's explanation of the parable to the disciples. Here are the lessons Pastor Kevin shared from these verse pairs:

Mark 4:4&15 - "Seed scatttered on the path side and eaten by birds" refers to people who are initially interested but Satan distracts them before they have time to really listen and accept.

Mark 4:5&16 - "Seed scattered on stony ground that comes up but then withers" refers to people who accept God's Word and are enthusiastic about it but give up after they have trials.

Mark 4:7&18.- "Thorns choked out the young plants" refers to things that pry us away from God..
1) "Cares of this world" when the trials in your life make you try to do it on your own power.
2) "Deceitfulness of Riches" when the love of money and stuff becomes your motivation in life.
3) Desires for what other people have - relationships, jobs, homes, children, etc.

The seed is the Word - literally Jesus - which grows in us over time and thru life experiences. If we do it God's way, we increase or let Satan lead and decrease.

Mark 4:8&20 - "Seed in good ground, sprouted and bore fruit" refers to people who accept the Word and make progress by acting on it. God supports us when we walk, trip, fall, Get Back Up, and bring others to Him (fruit). When chaos strikes us, it allows God to plant his Word deep in our souls.

We prayed together for God to help us persevere and grow in us for His glory. Several women prayed with the team individually.
